Replace MobileMe and Iweb
If you want to keep using i-Web but you would like to move your website away from Mobile Me web hosting, then buy some cheap domain names for $6, apply for an inexpensive web hosting account, and publish your site via FTP. i-Web made it possible to publish your site on a traditional web hosting server. You set up the FTP settings in i-Web's website publishing settings, and pressing the Publish website button takes care of uploading anything to your new web host. Just about every web host supports FTP. Note that some of the standard i Web features don't work when you use FTP. What I like about this solution is that you can just change the webhost for your site, point i Web to the new web host, and publish the same old website to the new location. Nothing will be lost in translation, and there will be no redesign work. i Web will probably not be supported in the future and may eventually stop working. The other downside? You will have to pay for website hosting at one of the many hosting providers. Talk to you later! |
